New Orleans friends

Well, things just seem to be getting worse; and the dregs of humanity are putting in a strong showing. FEMA has had to suspend rescue operations in the area because of criminals armed with looted firearms shooting at rescue workers and helicopters. This along with the police and National Guard troops being shot at and killed. Why the hell was this allowed to happen? Why did police and National Guard troops just stand idly by while looters pillaged shops. I read an article earlier that quoted police talking about watching looters walk by with massive loads of jewelry, electronics, and firearms.

Why weren't these scum shot on sight? They're in the middle of one of the worst national disasters in decades, in an area that has had to have martial law declared, and they're presenting a clear and present danger. Why haven't the police and military been dealing appropriate with this scum? I have a pretty good guess why, but unlike others; I'm not about to use this disaster for political grandstanding. I just hope that something is learned from this that will prevent this from happening the next time.

Fortunately, the Federal government has responded to this situation by sending in a sizeable complement of Marines to secure the area. The USMC should be able to ensure that rescue efforts are resumed quickly; and that the thugs are exterminated like the vermin they so clearly are.

In better news, I've finally heard from docbrite in Mississippi (latest updates are in her journal), and she's doing as well as can be expected. No power; but getting by. Looks like she's likely to have lost a lot; though. And there's no telling how her pets have fared, since she was unable to bring most of them with her when she evacuated. It may be a month or more before evacuees are allowed back home.

I still haven't heard anything about faerieburst. Last I heard she had probably evacuated; but no idea where to. If anyone knows her current status, please reply and let me know. I'm worried.
